Amla, or Indian gooseberry, is a vitamin C-rich fruit infused into Zelvo's oil base to condition the hair shaft and support a clean, comfortable scalp.

Amla has been part of South Asian hair care for centuries, usually as a dried fruit steeped in oil. We cold-infuse whole dried amla into the base for several weeks rather than using an extract, which keeps the infusion gentle and the colour naturally deep. On hair, it conditions the outer cuticle so strands feel smoother and look glossier rather than dull.

Bhringraj is a leafy herb known in Ayurveda as the 'king of hair', infused into Zelvo's oil to soothe the scalp and give hair a healthy-looking finish.

Bhringraj leaves are dried and infused into the oil base alongside amla. It is the herb most closely associated with traditional hair oiling in the subcontinent, and it is what gives a well-made herbal oil its distinctive green, grassy note. It leaves the scalp feeling calm and comfortable, which matters if you oil weekly.

Used in Ayurvedic hair preparations for generations, typically as a warm oil scalp massage.

Fenugreek seeds — methi — are infused into Zelvo's base for their protein and mucilage content, which helps hair feel stronger and less prone to snapping when brushed.

Methi is in almost every Pakistani kitchen, and it has been used on hair for just as long. The seeds are naturally rich in protein and a soft mucilage that coats the strand. In an oil infusion it contributes slip: hair de-tangles more easily, which is often the real reason breakage drops.

Black seed, or kalonji, is a warming aromatic seed oil included in Zelvo's blend to help keep the scalp feeling clean, balanced and comfortable.

Kalonji has a long history in this region and a warm, slightly peppery aroma that you will notice in the bottle. We include it in a modest proportion — enough to contribute its character to the blend without making the oil feel heating on the scalp.

Rosemary is infused into Zelvo's oil for its clean herbal aroma and its long-standing role in scalp care preparations.

Rosemary is the reason the oil smells like a herb garden rather than a salon. It lifts the heavier, nuttier notes of the base oils and makes the blend pleasant to leave on overnight — which is the single biggest factor in whether people actually keep oiling their hair.

Hibiscus petals are infused into Zelvo's base for their natural mucilage, which helps hair feel soft and look conditioned after washing.

Cold-pressed coconut oil is Zelvo's primary base — one of the few oils shown to penetrate the hair shaft rather than only coating it, which is why it reduces the protein lost during washing.

Coconut oil's small molecular size and high lauric acid content let it move into the hair cortex rather than sitting on the surface. Applied before washing, it limits how much water the strand absorbs and swells, which is the mechanism behind most wash-day breakage. We use cold-pressed rather than refined so the infusion stays gentle.

Pure coconut oil solidifies below about 24°C, which makes it unpleasant to use in a Lahore or Islamabad winter. Blending in sweet almond oil keeps Zelvo pourable year-round and adds a lighter, more emollient feel that suits fine hair as well as thick.
